THE CAPTAIN FRANK A. PORTELLE MEMORIAL FOUNDATION
MEET FRANK
Captain Frank Portelle of Engine Co. 50 and formerly of Ladder Co. 13 served the FDNY with dedication and heroism for 24 years, including spending countless hours participating in the rescue and recovery efforts after the horrific events of September 11, 2001, and during the initial months of the Covid-19 Pandemic. Frank was an avid golfer, professionally trained chef, loyal friend/neighbor and most importantly he was a devoted and loving husband/father.
During April of 2020, Frank and his family were confronted with a devasting diagnosis that he had contracted 9/11 Related Grade IV Glioblastoma Brain Cancer. Frank fought this aggressive disease courageously and with dignity for 11 months, but unfortunately, he succumbed to its ravages on March 13, 2021, at the age of 51.

OUR MISSION
To preserve Frank's memory, The Captain Frank A. Portelle Memorial Foundation has been established, a registered 501 (C)(3). Our mission is two-fold, primarily our goal is to provide FDNY firefighters afflicted with 9/11 cancer and their families any assistance they need to help them through this devasting time. In addition, we will continue to raise funds and promote awareness to The Glioblastoma Foundation, in the hopes of improving the outcome for patients suffering from this devastating disease that affects many FDNY firefighters and countless individuals throughout the world. To date, we have donated $11,000.00 to The Glioblastoma Foundation.
